Braughtwurst Robotics Team 1571
2010

Who are we?

We are a high school FIRST Robotics team from Gresham, Oregon who are passionate about science and technology. Since 2005, the Center for Advanced Learning (CAL) has encouraged students to pursue their interests in science, engineering, and tecnology. The students begin to attend CAL from four high schools, Centennial, Gresham, Reynolds, and Sandy. They come to CAL to learn more about engineering, information technology, and medical sciences.

In the summer of 2004, Microchip and ITT Technical approached CAL about starting a robotics team. Team 1571, Braught Wurst, was formed with mentors provided by Microchip and ITT. After competing in the FIRST competitions, the BraughtWurst team members have gone on to study engineering, manufacturing, and computer science. The students are fulfilling FIRST founder, Dean Kamen's vision of "... transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science anc technology heroes."

FIRST

FIRST's mission is to engage young people in science and technology and inspire them to pursue a career in engineering. Students are able to experience the excitement of the robot competitions while working together to achieve their goals. Through mentoring and teamwork, students can enhance their technology skills, as well as building sef-confidence and leadership, while making many new friends along the way.
